An absolutely massive congratulations to our 6 amazing senior athletes who travelled to Sydney last weekend to represent both Yarra Ranges and Victoria on the national stage.
Weather conditions were occasionally blustery, rainy, and very humid, but despite this we saw some amazing performances from everyone.

We have new flags to put out this weekend, so there has never been a better time to come and help with setup!

Wednesday training moves to 4.15-5pm for cross country starting this week through term 2 and 3 also. We have a run, do some strength training and play some games each week. Just turn up!
We need some volunteers to run the canteen on Friday April 8 for St Patricks Primary School. Peak time should be 11am to 1pm when help is needed.

We need more volunteers to run YRAXC this weekend! Our cross country events cannot run without the required number of timekeepers, results desk officials and marshals. Check out the volunteer roster at the link here and pop your name down
Make sure to arrive early to ensure you are registered and ready to go for the season.
To compete at YRAXC you must be registered with us, and have paid for either a season pass or given a gold coin.
Season passes and gold coins help us provide PB chocolate frogs, and a barbeque when we get to the end of XC season.
If your child is not already registered with LAVIC, and they would like to compete in LAVIC sanctioned State and Regional championship events, register them via the LAVIC portal which opens Friday April 1 ($80/child).
For children that do not wish to compete in LAVIC sanctioned events, you may register with Yarra Ranges Athletics Club43 on the day for $25/person, or $50/family.
Once you are registered, you can either purchase your season pass or toss a gold coin in the tub and get running!
Season passses are $10 for children and $20 for adults.

Last weekend we celebrated the hugely exciting season of Little Athletics that was had with a slightly different program than usual; featuring handicapped 100m and 300m events as well plenty of field events, and parent competitors!
There were no doubt many sore bodies on Saturday afternoon as parents chased down our juniors, some successfully despite challenging handicaps!
We celebrated the final rounds of Little Athletics for Bailey Van Bert and Sascha Carroll, who have represented the club for a number of years and now leave our Little Athletics team. We congratulate them on their countless PBs and medals they have won, and thank them both for being such awesome role models to all of our Littles! YRA looks forward to seeing them both join our Seniors team.

We have an appropriately warm and sunny day forecast for the end of our Summer Season of Little Athletics, so remember your hat and put on some sunscreen! Our Presentation Day/Team Round runs from 10am – 12.30pm on Saturday 26th March. It will be a celebration of teamwork and friendship, with the opportunity to share in the success of our wonderful club and its athletes.
Athletes can wear free dress, with no uniform required! It will also be free entry, including a free sausage from the BBQ. Drinks and snacks will be available to purchase from the canteen(closed during presentations).
Thank you to those fabulous volunteers who have signed up to help out on the day, please double check the roster to ensure you are available when needed.
Parking will once again be shared with Netball, so take care and consider parking away from the track and walking in.

Last weekend we were extremely proud to send a team of athletes to LAVic’s State Champs event, and even more proud to see them come home with not one, but FOUR Bronze medals.
Additionally to that, we saw 14 top 8 performances as well as numerous PBs and great sportsmanship from everyone.
A special mention to Jamie Pointon for starting all weekend out in the sun and a big thank you to all the volunteers, parent helpers and athletes!

Presentation Day will be on Saturday the 26th of March. We love to celebrate all the athletes who have joined Yarra Ranges for the Little Athletics Track and Field Season.

Trophies will be presented to those athletes who have a minimum of 50% attendance during the 21/22 season from October till March. However, if you have joined us after the Christmas holidays and/or not sure your athlete has reached the minimum attendance and will be attending the Presentation Day, please email info@yarrarangesathletics.com.au .
Trophies will be ordered at the end of this week so please get in touch with us ASAP.

As we near the completion of our summer season of Littles this weekend will be a special Season Celebration Round to recognise the dedication and success of not just our awesome young athletes, but our parent helpers, volunteers and committee.

This weekend is the Little Athletics Victoria Track and Field Championships. It is an incredible achievement to qualify to compete and a fantastic opportunity to strive for a new personal best!! Location: Lakeside Stadium, Aughtie Drive, Albert Park.They have already stated set up for the Grand Prix so parking may be more challenging than usual. Traffic can also cause unexpected delays, plan ahead – but always call if something has gone wrong – we will help if there is anything at all we can do.If you will not be attending, please let us know as soon as you are aware, so we can advise the event officials.Look out for the YRA flag to find us. We will be located at the top of the west stadium near the 100m start line. There will be a canteen facilities on the day. We are extremely proud to announce that YRA’s resident cross country champ, Harry Norman, will be travelling to Portugal over the coming days for the World Uni Cross Champs.
The following is an excerpt from Athletics Australia. ‘Athletics Australia General Manager, High Performance, Andrew Faichney said he was looking forward to seeing the seven-strong team take the next step in their endurance careers.
“The World University Cross Country Championships is an important stepping stone for athletes striving to make it onto our most elite teams, and in fact, it’s been the first senior teams for some of our most prolific marathoners including Jessica Stenson and Steve Moneghetti’s first senior medal.
“This is an invaluable opportunity for each of these seven athletes in becoming champion distance runners, and I’d like to congratulate each of them on their selection. We look forward to seeing each of them compete in Portugal next week.”’

Coles Community Round was a big success this week for round 13 of the Summer Track and Field Season. Well done to all the athletes who dressed up in red for the day. Congratulations to the athletes who have scored themselves a $10 Coles Voucher!
Last weekend concluded the second week of the Vic Track and Field Champs, and we were extremely proud to see 8 of our seniors having a go against the state’s best.
State T&F Champs is an important opportunity for our seniors to qualify and head up to Sydney for Nationals in a few weeks time, and we look forward to seeing which of them will take the plunge to represent Victoria.
For those who have not yet entered Nationals, entries close Thursday at 5pm!

Be on the lookout for the selfie board around the track to get a photo in your best and brightest red outfit you’ve got!
Coles has kindly provided us with 10 x $10 Coles vouchers which we will be giving out to athletes who are dressed the best, we want to see just how vibrantly red you can be! (And no, sunburn does not count!)

Last weekend at YRAs Littles Summer comp we watched an enormous 38 athletes reach their 10 PBs for the season, as well as another 4 who have reached 18 awards for the season!
