Last Saturday
The sun was finally shining at Morrison Reserve on Saturday morning. Perfect conditions for a fun morning of athletics. With so many new members and trialling members the calm, warm weather enabled a full program of events to be completed. Athletes even managed to have some relay fun.
Undoubtedly the highlight of the morning was the “little kids” race which attracted a swarm of smiling little runners and their parents.
We have had lots of new families join the club during the last couple of weeks! Thank you to those who have brought a Proof of Age Document. If you have not already done so can you please bring a POA document next time you come to the track or email to info@yarrarangesathletics.org.au
The canteen has been a hive of activity during the last couple of weeks at competition. A big thank you to Farlie, Renee and Cindy who joined us in the canteen last Saturday.
If every family can volunteer at the canteen just once during the season we can keep providing this service to our members. Unless we have sufficient volunteers this week we will have to introduce a volunteer roster
A reminder that everyone at YRA is a volunteer and many spend hours not just during Saturday but over the week to provide a great weekly program for the athletes. Many hands make light work.
Last Saturday – Seniors
Our seniors were split between AVSL competitions at Casey Fields and Aberfeldie Track. Special thanks to the athletes and family members who fulfilled our club helper duties at Casey Fields.
Congratulations to Zoe Clarke, who made her Yarra Ranges Athletics AVSL debut with an excellent 800m race.
We wish the best of luck to the 17 Yarra Ranges Athletics who are competing at Vic Milers Club over the 800m and 3000m distances on Thursday. Hopefully the weather turns out not to be too humid!
Primary School Division Athletics – December 1st
On Wednesday the 1st of December, Yarra Ranges Athletics Track will host the invitational event for the Primary School Yarra Division.
There is no progression from District before this event, or to Regionals after this event. This event is allowing students to participate in some competitive athletics thru School Sport Victoria.
If you have a child in grades 3-6 your PE teacher should have received an invitation to this exciting event.
If your school is part of Healesville, Mooroolbark, Montrose, Silvan, Lilydale, Wandin or Warburton District and have an athlete aged 9-13 and are in primary school we hope to see you all there.
YRA are needing volunteers to help run the day. Either a field event, track or in the canteen. Please be in touch ASAP with Jamie Strudley on 0402 233 677.
We need at least 15 on the ground and 4 in the canteen. Even a small amount of time would be valuable. Thank you!
Two Bays Carpark Fundraiser
This will be the 6th year we have managed this and it is the best one day fundraiser that we do.
We raise over $2000 which goes directly to the club, but we need members to come and help either direct cars to park or be on the gate to take the $5 car parking fee.
The area is a one way in and out and about 400-500 cars are directed on the day.
If you are available to help, we offer a small amount to cover petrol and/or food costs on the day. We need about 5 people from 6am in the morning and an additional 3 from 9am till about 1pm.
If you can help for a couple of hours please get in touch with Katie Clarke on 0403 819391. It is a beautiful part of the world to explore when your shift is over. Big Thank you!
