Little Athletics is back!
Wow! We are finally back! It was an incredibly exciting weekend at YRA with our very first round of LAV for the 21/22 season, and the atmosphere was absolutely unreal. Season 2021/2022 kicked off on Saturday with 121 Little Athletes taking to the track on a sunny, but humid morning on the first weekend in November.
It was lovely to see the smiles and joy around the ground as the athletes got back to the sport they love. Welcome to our new families! If you need any assistance please get in touch with our enthusiastic committee members via email or messenger.
The wind kept the volunteers on the their toes as the hurdles blew over before the race could start but we managed to keep the program running, with some races turning into 100m.

Thank you for your patience at the registration desk. Thankfully our returning athletes only need to come to the desk once at the start of the season. Thank you to those who attended our early registration patch pick up on Thursday night which really helped keep the line as short as possible.
If you missed our first weekend, please come to the registration desk next time you are at the track to pick up your registration patch and Nike drink bottle which is part of your membership.
Calling prospective Starters!
YRA is in need of more starters for the coming season, and last weekend we were extremely privileged to have Rob Belli down at the track for our first round. Rob will be working at other centres during the rest of the season.
Rob is willing to come to the track at 5pm Thursday 11th (tomorrow) to give some Dad’s and Mums the essential skills to start the races on a Saturday. Please let us know if you can make it!
YRA Little Athletics Round 2
Date: Saturday 13th November
Location: Morrison Reserve, Mount Evelyn
Please arrive by 8.45am and remember to wear your competition top with Coles patch and Commonwealth Bank Registration patch.
Prior to Saturday, ensure you have checked our YRA Clubhouse Facebook page for any last minute event information.
You may also have noticed that some sections of the field are undergoing resurfacing, preventing us from holding shot put and discus competition – this is scheduled to be completed soon!
The program here should be used as a guide only and may be subject to change on the day.
Little Athletics Summer Season Calendar
We understand the need for certainty during COVID normal and have worked hard to put together a calendar for the 21/22 summer season of Little Athletics.
Some major events have already been cancelled this season, and we are yet to confirm dates with Little Athletics Victoria, so these dates may change at short notice. COVID19 has made life extremely challenging and unpredictable, particularly when it comes to making plans, but our focus is always on getting your kids out having fun as soon as possible.
LAvic has confirmed that Region and State Relays have been cancelled for the 2021/2022 season. Unfortunately the event has not been given permission from the state government due to restrictions. We can only hope that next year this team event will be back on the program. We have been notified that Box Hill Relays and Doncaster Open Day have been cancelled for this season also.

Senior Athletics Starts This Week
Welcome back to AVSL and the start of the 2021/22 summer season!
AVSL competition will resume in a similar manner to previous years however, as expected in this current climate, there are still some very important guidelines and processes as outlined in the AVSL Guide. Please ensure you take the time to read the up-to-date version, in order to support our compliance with health and safety standards set out by the State Government.
AVSL Round One
This weekend we will be competing at Duncan MacKinnon Reserve and Doncaster Athletics Track.
We wish the best of luck to our seniors competing this weekend after a long hiatus from competition!
