Lockdown ends, back to training, XC to come soon..
A brief message from the President
I am so excited to finally announce that we can get back to training from Friday morning.
No doubt everyone will be very excited to see each other and find their little piece of “normal” again. This lockdown was sudden and caught many off-guard, and personally I am beyond ready to get back on the trails at Silvan!
While we are not yet able to host our Saturday morning Cross Country competition, outdoor training can resume – though the recent cold weather may not be the most inviting!
Our coaches will communicate via the Yarra Ranges Athletics Clubhouse Facebook page when and where they will be training again.
We will be paying close attention to government, LAV, and AV recommendations to ensure a COVID safe experience for everybody, and if anything changes quickly we will let our members know as soon as possible via the Clubhouse page. Attached at the link below is the full list of updated restrictions from the Victorian government, correct at 9/06/2021. Click here.
On a slightly different note, the second round of the Victoria’s ‘Get Active Kids Voucher Program’ opened on the May 31st. If your family has a health care card or pensioner concession card you may be eligible for $200 to help your child play sport – it’s worth a look!
Our club has also just been the lucky recipient of a grant from the Victorian government, part of the Sporting Club Grants program. We have been given $1000 to put towards our equipment, and it has been decided by the committee for use in replacing our aging shot puts and discus sets.
Thank you everybody for your continued patience and diligence, I look forward to seeing you all down at YRA XC in coming weeks.
Max Savill-Bentley, President Yarra Ranges Athletics
