The cold, icy wind and frequent hail storms were not enough to deter Yarra Ranges and Croydon athletes from swarming upon Morrison Reserve on Saturday morning for round 5 of the Yarra Ranges Athletics cross country season.
Anyone of any ability or fitness is welcome to join in on Saturday mornings to enjoy running around some of the picturesque parklands in the Yarra Valley.
All well marked, well marshalled and friendly courses provide a fun, inclusive environment for families to enjoy running or supporting others.
Round 5 presented athletes with an opportunity for a personal best on the second outing around the new Morrison Reserve course. The recent rains produced a soggy course which slowed many athletes, but still over 50 finishers earning their choccie frog treat.
Knox Open Day
Next week our Little athletes are invited to the Knox Open Day at Jells Park. Athletes need to pre-register for this event with no on the day entries available. Entries close on Wednesday 19th may, check the website for more details.
There will be no Saturday morning cross country this weekend with all athletes encouraged to support the Knox Open Day, where we will attempt to retain the coveted champion club trophy.
XCR Round 2
Our seniors trek to Lardner Park, Warragul for round 2 of the XCR21 season. Good luck to all competing!
LAVic Cross Country Relays

Location: Cruden Farm, Cranbourne-Frankston Road, Langwarrin
Age Groups: Open to LAVic registered U9-U16 athletes
The first State Competition of the Cross Country season will be taking place on the 5th of June and we are seeking Yarra Ranges athletes in the Under 9 – Under 16 age groups to compete!
Each team consists of 3 runners who complete the course and tags the next runner until all 3 have completed the course. The distances are a little shorter than the regular distance for your age group.
If you would like to have a run please contact Katie on 0403819391 before May 20th. We can form Region teams with other EMR centres if we do not have enough athletes for YRA teams.
U9 & U10: 3 x 1km
U11 & U12: 3 x 1.5km
U13, U14, U15 & U16: 3 x 2km (2 laps of 1km)

11.00am: U10 Boys & Girls
11.30am: U13 & U16 Boys & Girls, Multi-Class U9-U10 Boys & Girls
12.15pm: U14 & U15 Boys & Girls
1.30pm: U11 Boys & Girls, Multi-Class U11-U12 & U13-U16 Boys & Girls
