State Track & Field Championships
Yarra Ranges Athletics athletes had a busy weekend of athletics as club athletes enjoyed another fun
filled twilight round, 18 athletes proudly represented the club at the Victorian Little Athletics Track &
Field Championships.
Our eighteen qualifiers to State Champs competed exceptionally well. Saturday saw some tough
weather conditions making competition more difficult.
All our athletes should be proud of the results and hopefully enjoyed competing on the new track at Lakeside Stadium.
Round 9 AVSL
Our seniors competed at round 9 of the AVSL competition with many events completed before the
competition was abandoned due to heavy rain. Thanks to our club helpers Michael Willey, Craig
Hewitson, Collen Anderson, Mia Strudley and Jamie Strudley.
Round 10 AVSL
Our seniors compete at Round 10 of AVSL. This will be our Powerplay round so we need all our senior athletes competing if possible.
Powerplay doubles our ladder points and hopefully should keep us from being relegated back to Division 3. Our home venue this weekend is Nunawading.
Events on offer this weekend include long jump, pole vault, discus, javelin, 100m, 110m hurdles, 1500m, 400m, 5000m walk.
Entries close Wednesday at MIDDAY, 11:59AM. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
Last Friday’s Twilight
Twilight rounds are always a fun, enjoyable evening and a perfect way to end the school and work
week. Our athletes recorded several personal bests as they really made the most of the conditions. The hamburgers from the bbq were also a bit hit.
