Welcome back to athletics!
It was another fantastic turnout of eager athletes at Morrison Reserve on Saturday morning, despite families being able to travel to regional Victoria for the first time in many months. Once again our athletes and parents adapted to the very different set of rules for participating in Little Athletics competition.
Athletes had an opportunity to experience a wide range of events with some excellent performances from all athletes throughout the morning. It was great to see so many new faces joining the club for the first time and enjoying the opportunity to experience some new activities with new friends.
Thanks to all the helpers who complied with the new restrictions and procedures to ensure we all had a fun and safe morning of athletics. A big thanks to the senior athletics club members who volunteered their time, expertise and enthusiasm to help the day run smoothly.
We hope to see everyone back next week with more friends to enjoy another morning of fun athletics. Competition starts at 9.00Am with grouping starting from 8.45am. We always need help with setup, if you can help please we start setting up about 7.30-8.00am Please check our social media pages for more information and any updates to competition procedures.
Athletics Victoria had their first competition since lockdown in March. A challenging cross country event at Cruden Farm that was open to anyone wanting a run. Club member, Jared Byrne finished third in his wave recording a very solid 23.32 for the tough 6km cross country course. A reminder to all senior athletes that the first round of AVSL is on Sunday 29th November, entries close at midday on Wednesday 25th November. So get yourself registered and entered as soon as possible.
Registration are open for both Little Athletics (lavic.com.au) and our senior team via Athletics Victoria (athsvic.org.au). The club welcomes and encourages all athletes of any age or ability.
